The septic is design for how well it will drain and how big the load is (the size of the house). If the soil doesn’t drain well, it will require more fill. Whirl pool tubs and disposals will effect the size. The larger the drain fill and the more fill required, means the system will cost more. You generally need one acre to build and have a well and septic. Some subdivisions have community water. You can get a house and septic on approx. one half acre, provided you have good soil. If your soil type is questionable, you may be required to have a soil Scientist check it. All new subdivisions require a soil scientist before approval of subdivision.
Septic systems have to be installed by some one who is state licensed and approved by Health Department. If you are in a municipalities (City), you will have to go there for water and sewer taps.
