Chief Clerk of Court: Stetson Bennett

The Office of the Clerk of Courts provides clerical, administrative and support services for the Superior, State and Juvenile Courts of Wayne County. This responsibility includes receiving, filing, storing, maintaining and retrieving of all civil and criminal records for these Courts (which, with the exception of juvenile records, are open for public inspection and copying). Additionally, the Office maintains the jury pool for jury selection and trials by the Superior and State Courts and the pool for the Grand Jury and is responsible for the selection (by electronic means), summoning, notifying and management of jurors for each term of Court.

The Office of the Clerk of Courts is also responsible for the receiving, recording, processing, indexing, maintaining and reproducing all records for land (real estate) and personal property bought, sold, or otherwise conveyed or encumbered in Wayne County. All of these records are available for public inspection and copying.

Other services provided include - Notary Public appointment for Wayne County citizens; U.S. Passport local (application) acceptance agency; filing and maintaining all Trade Names, Partnerships, Corporations (articles of - not required to be filed with the Georgia Secretary of State) and Charters (not required to be filed with the Georgia Secretary of State), Veteran’s Military Discharge Records (Form DD214).
